Although copying PS3 games could save you a lot of money, copying PS3 games is a very risky proposition, especially since there is currently no method available to be able to play copied PS3 games on a PS3. Aside from the obvious risk of being discovered by content owners and so called ‘copyright police’, there is a growing trend that you are placing your personal information at risk if you utilize programs or websites that allow say you can copy PS3 games for free.

It should be clear that any website or program that allows you to copy PS3 games for free is clearly a scam since there is no method available to play copied PS3 games on a PS3. Copies of PS3 game cannot be played on a PS3 without either a software or hardware modification to the PS3. Additionally, a working mod chip (a chip that is physically installed on a game system that allows it the system to bypass hardware anti-piracy protections) has not yet been developed for the PS3. If it has been developed, it is not commercially available as game companies, such as Sony, tend to suppress and eliminate these devices as quickly as possible.

Since websites that offer programs that allow you to copy PS3 games for free are a scam, these websites will do anything and everything to make sure that you provide them with your personal information. Some of these programs may also carry viruses, worms, or Trojans that will damage your either damage your computer, use your computer as a node for a botnet, or steal your information in real time. As such, if you visit these websites you should refrain from providing anyone with your personal information and you should run a scan of your computer for malware.
